SSH or SFTP in to your phone using the IP address listed in your Wifi settings. (Port: 22, username: root, password: alpine). You may use a gui-client such as WinSCP for Windows and Fugu for Mac.
CD to the directory: /private/var/mobile/Library/SMS
Copy sms.db to your local computer
Use SQLiteBrowser to view the Messages table and Export table to CSV
I finally found a good enough app for remote SMS via Wi-Fi or USB in order of preference:
1. EasySMS - Pros: Reliable; Cons: Must manually refresh to see updated status of SMS 2. Desktop SMS - Pros: real-time SMS receive/send; Cons: Intermittent closing of app 3. RemoteSMS - Pros: Port configurable; Cons: Must manually refresh to see updated status of SMS
Reinstall the program by right clicking on the app (modem drive), click on show package contents> contents > resources > mobilepartner.mpkg. That will reinstall the app on your mac. To connect, open the moblie app on your applications folder (not the one on the modem drive)

For my Snow Leopard, i chose #3 since Java that comes with the MacOS is 64bit but you need to tweak settings since it consumes memory that it's 32bit counterpart.
The problem is when the screen goes into sleep mode, it shuts off the Wi-Fi to conserve battery power. You can change that setting by following the steps below. Go to Menu> Settings> Wireless & Networks> Wi-Fi Settings> Menu> Advanced> Wi-Fi Sleep Policy and touch either Never when plugged in or never.
Finally i was able to make it work.. Now I have FREE US inbound and outbound calls from my Google Talk.. I spent one (1) day tweaking my configuration and it was well worth it.
